The Windward Island Inter-Scholastic Games Print
-Written by Luigi Spadaro-
From November 31 through December 2nd 2007, a team of students went to St. Eustatius to represent St. Maarten in the 2nd ever Windward island games. Representing Sint Maarten in the swimming division were students from our swimeux-1.jpgschool. In Statia -- short for St. Eustatius-- they enjoyed the hospitality of the friendly people of that island. The swimmers, along with the teams, stayed in the islands only high school -- the Gwendolyn van Putten School. Most other St. Maarten teams took home top honors. The swimmers of St. Dominic came back very victorious by taking gold for every heat! Nigel was awarded gold for the 50m and 100m breast stroke and silver for 50m back crawl, Leandreswimeux-2.jpg won gold for 50m freestyle and also silver for 100m freestyle. Luigi came back with gold for 100m freestyle, and 50m back crawl and also silver for 100m breast stroke. Rounding out the individual achievement was Jesus who took silver for 50m breast stroke as well as freestyle. The entire team won gold in the 200m freestyle relay. The trip was an overall success and is one they will never forget.

Soccer tournament 2007 Print

soccertour1This years soccer tournament was great!!! We started off a little shakey, but then we turned around and won the three rounds to get first place. We had a great goalkeeper, an excellent defense, a great midfield and a superb attack. So we took this and combined it all together and created the strongest team. The person who coached us and tied it all together is coach Kevin who helped us all the way to first place. Next year we're going for first place again!!

The St. Dominic basketball team consists of around 13 players, 12 boys and 1 girl. Basketball is one of the prefered sports at St. Dominic High, you can always find students playing it on the playground. Our school basketball team is not the best in St. Maarten but we always do our best when playing against the other schools! To be a good basketball team you will need skilled players, but above all TEAMWORK, and that's what our team has!! Come see us play...
