In a management position, not just in a financial department but anywhere in a professional organization, the ability to interpret and analyze financial information is indispensable.
In ‘principles of accounts' our students receive a very extensive introduction into accounting principles and techniques. From bookkeeping, the recording of financial transactions itself, to accounting, which comprises the analysis and reporting of information to those who need it; the management and other ‘stakeholders' in a business.

In form 3, ‘principles of accounts' is part of the subject called economics, and is compulsory for students choosing the business package. This form 3 programme provides an introduction into all subjects in the broader field of economics, i.e. principles of accounts and principles of business and economics. In form 4 and 5 principles of accounts is taught as a separate subject, an obvious and common elective for business students.

Principles of accounts in our school is geared towards the CXC exam. In the CXC accounts curriculum, a broad range of financial issues is covered, including bookkeeping in trading companies, service industries and non-profit organizations.
